The three Maya Angelou Libraries will be stocked with books from a list of Black writers. Friends and supporters of the project can buy books for the libraries on this website.
We will also be happy to accept books that aren’t on the list so if you have any books you’re wanting to throw away please keep them aside – we’ll post instructions on how to forward them to us.
The objective of the Milestone Library Project is to
establish a productive living monument in "2008, the Year of Reading", that combines
the evening of the 200th anniversary of the Abolition of Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade with the world renown literary icon,
Dr Angelou's legacy of nurture, education and motivation, to help children lift themselves out of poverty through reading.
